Hi everyone, I am looking for some help and guidance. I have an original issue of a Beano No 1 dated 30th July 1938 which belonged to my father.
I wanted to get an idea of its value and someone advised me to contact an auction house called Comic book postal auctions. They asked me to send images of the front and back cover and they estimated the value of the comic to be worth £2,500 - £4000.00 and graded it as v.g. They also suggested that it could fetch a greater price depending on who bids on the day.
I also put a local ad in the newspaper and one collector has offered me a cash offer of £4,000.00.
I am at a loss as to what to do with the comic and whether I should sell it now or hold onto it for a few more years as I know there are very few of the No 1's left.
Firstly could someone tell me if the collector is offering me a fair price for the comic and secondly is it likely to fetch more at auction or finally would I be best holding onto to it for a few more years before I sell.
Any help would be much appreciated.ImageImage

Based on those links, £4000 is a good price.

I would hold on to it. But that's me and I hate selling things.

I'm jealous.
But £4,000 for a vg condition comic, whilst a lot of money, isn't probably the best deal.
At auction houses it could probably fetch a lot more.

^That's probably what you need to know, but it's worth looking here:

But personally, as the price keeps going up I'd hold onto it for a few years.
If it has the original whoopee mask with it it can be worth up to £14k.
(If it does I'd like to see a picture :3)
